The family of Hannah Kobayashi, a Hawaii woman who vanished while traveling to New York, has grown more concerned about their missing loved one after viewing surveillance video of her in downtown Los Angeles.
The clip, which has not been made public, shows 31-year-old Kobayashi on Monday, Nov. 11 at the Pico Metro Station, near Crypto.com Arena, according to family members, who viewed the footage for the first time over the weekend.
In a statement to KTLA, they said it was “evident” Kobayashi was not in “good condition” at the time.
“She is not safe, and she is not alone,” her aunt, Larie Pidgeon, told KTLA of the video without providing further details.
Kobayashi departed from her native Maui on Friday, Nov. 8., and was supposed to catch a connecting flight to New York at Los Angeles International Airport around 11 p.m. the same night, KHON2 reported. Her family has said she missed her connection, so she opted to attend a Lebron James event on Nov. 9 at The Grove shopping center to kill time while she waited for the next flight.
A photo, seemingly from the event, was also shared to Kobayashi’s Instagram grid.
The following day, the missing woman sent out a slew of cryptic messages to family and friends, including one where she claimed someone was trying to steal her identity.
Her phone pinged for the last time at LAX on Monday, Nov. 11 and has since died or been shut off.
A missing persons report was filed last week in Los Angeles and an investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.
Kobayashi has been described as a 5-foot-10 woman weighing about 140 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes, and fair skin with freckles.
